BioBoost contributes to research possibilities

The textile industry is after the oil industry the most polluting in the world. At the same time, there are large amounts of vegetable waste from horticultural areas, such as the stems of tomato plants. Is it possible to use these tomatoes stems as raw material to create and design a Tomato-T-Shirt?

Under the circular economy this would be a fantastic example to upcycle waste streams and it could be a new economic impulse for the textile industry.

Textiles out of tomato stems has never been made. Therefore, the initiative has been taken to find this out and try to make the first t-shirt out of tomato stems.

BioBoost supports this initiative by a funding a part of the research.
